Have you ever dreamed of stepping inside an NYC penthouse owned by the legendary Rothschild family?

A Manhattan Penthouse, linked to the Rothschild Family, hit the market, priced at $30 million.

If you’re in the market for a penthouse that’s not only luxurious but also comes with a fascinating backstory, maybe you just found what you’re looking for!

Nestled atop a Manhattan tower, this magnificent penthouse offers breathtaking city and river views and comes with a connection to none other than the legendary Rothschild family. And the best part? You get an additional apartment on a lower floor thrown into the mix, because why settle for just one fabulous space when you can have two?

Let’s dive into the captivating tale behind this extraordinary property. Back in the 1970s, a glamorous Parisian antiques dealer named Ariane Dandois captured the hearts of deep-pocketed collectors with her exquisite offerings. Among her clientele was the renowned Baron Elie de Rothschild, who fell head over heels for Ariane’s sophistication and undeniable beauty.

Their love story, which blossomed over the years, resulted in the birth of their daughter, Ondine de Rothschild.

Now, here’s where things get intriguing. While Ondine’s lineage is beyond dispute, she remains a relatively unknown member of the famous Rothschild family tree. Apparently, the baron’s obituary in The New York Times conveniently omitted any mention of their daughter. Talk about a family secret!

After the passing of the baron’s wife, Liliane, in 2003, the relationship between Dandois and Rothschild took an unfortunate turn. It seems the baron decided to end the affair, leaving many wondering about the reasons behind this sudden change of heart. Sadly, the baron himself passed away a few years later at the age of 90, succumbing to a fatal heart attack while on a hunting trip in Austria.

Fast-forward to a few weeks after her father’s untimely demise, and Ondine, then in her late 20s, took the real estate plunge. She acquired two apartments in the luxurious Three Ten high-rise in Midtown, spending a cool $13.15 million. Ondine had big plans in mind—combining the two units into a magnificent duplex penthouse where she and her mother could indulge in a jet-setting lifestyle.

Architect Frank Bostelmann, with the prestigious David Kleinberg Design Associates at the helm, was tasked with transforming the separate apartments into a unified, opulent space. The result? A sprawling aerie spanning nearly 5,400 square feet, adorned with four generously-sized en-suite bedrooms and a total of four and a half baths. Talk about living in the lap of luxury!

Let’s take a quick tour of the highlights

Mesmerizing Terraces: The upper floor opens up to not one, not two, but three expansive terraces, boasting a combined area of around 2,100 square feet. Now, that’s what we call outdoor living in style!

Historic Touches: Prepare to be awestruck by the 18th-century parquet flooring that exudes a timeless charm throughout the penthouse. It’s like walking through history but with central heating.

Entertainer’s Delight: The 750-square-foot living room is the epitome of elegance, complete with a cozy fireplace for those chilly New York nights. And just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, there’s an 18-seat dining room to host extravagant dinner parties. Bon appétit!

Double the Pleasure: This penthouse boasts not one, but two study/libraries, perfect for those who enjoy a quiet space to contemplate the mysteries of the universe or binge-read their favorite novels. You might just need two library cards!
